The biosphere is the affectionate name we have given our planet. :P
Without the earth, we wouldn't exist. Now lets start dissecting the words. "Bio" is used to describe all life on our planet. Perhaps you've taken biology? If not, that's the study of life and everything about it, right down to our cells. The second word, "sphere", is a geometric term used to describe a ball, which is what our earth is. Contrary to popular belief the world is not flat. ;)
