May someone help me with this Assignment? PLease! :(

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I can try

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay... I have to find out the the genus and species name, the common name, and the phylum name. 3.For each plant example provide a small description of the plant, the reason why this plant fits under your chosen division, and the adaptations the plant uses to survive on land.

OpenStudy (petiteme):

Any clues on these?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No... Except for that it is a nonvascular plant... :/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@larryboxaplenty

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think it's a liverwart

OpenStudy (petiteme):

Hmmm, yeah cause I don't think it's Hornwort

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I know more abour ferns

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm trying a reverse image search, and I'm not finding the species

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So the name of it is Liverwart?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The type of plant is a liverwart, which is a Bryophyte

OpenStudy (anonymous):

*wort

OpenStudy (anonymous):

But that's not the species, that would be some odd latin name

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't think it's Marchantia

OpenStudy (anonymous):

And what category does Bryophyte fit in?

OpenStudy (petiteme):

I think it's Liverworts

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What is the genus?

OpenStudy (nincompoop):

if you were told that it is a non-vascular plant, you can still create or even make a distinction of its taxonomic lineage based on phenotypes observed (physical characteristics)

OpenStudy (petiteme):

Phylum Hepatophyta or Marchantiophyta or Jungermanniophyta

OpenStudy (nincompoop):

if you look at the leaves, what do you observe?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Liverwarts is the genus?

OpenStudy (petiteme):

Nin is here xD Go nin.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks for crashing open study :D

OpenStudy (petiteme):

I think it's Marchantia though :(

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so was I right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

As for the reasoning on why it fits into that genus, you can talk about traits of the genus and species which differentiates it from other liveworts

OpenStudy (anonymous):

As well as the characteristics which make it a liverwort, of course

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What?

OpenStudy (nincompoop):

you're welcome

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What is that the genus to the plant or no?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

First describe what makes a liverwort unique (how it reproduces, what non-vasualar means, etc.) Then describe characteristics the species has compared to other liverworts (small/big leaves, etc).

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sorry im confused... :'(
