What direction does the RNA primer move in? I know DNA and RNA is synthesized in the 5' to 3' direction, is the primer the same way or does it switch?

OpenStudy (aaronq):

same direction

OpenStudy (aaronq):

all polymerases function in this direction as a result of the placement of the phosphate groups on the nucleotides - whose energy release (from cleavage) aids in the new sugar-phosphate bond formation.
