Mike has 5 packs of gum with 6 pieces in each pack. he gave out 27 pieces of gum at school. draw the packs of gum, write the fraction of pieces handed out,, and the unit fraction of pack of gum.
so... how many gums are in total on all packs?
6?
oh! nvm
well there are 6 in EACH pack, yes but what about in total?
the total what
30
well, he has 5 packs of 6 pieces each what would be the total of gum pieces right it'd be 30
so he handed out 27 of those 30 pieces, that is, he handed out \(\bf \cfrac{27}{30}\) of the total, that's how many, in fraction, he gave out
now the unit fraction for each pack of gum or how much each pack "gave independently" to those \(\cfrac{27}{30}\) since a pack has 6 gums in it, then we'd want to know how much is \(\cfrac{27}{30}\) of 6 well. what's \(\cfrac{27}{30}\) of 6? \(\bf \cfrac{27}{30}\cdot 6\)
so 5.4?
@jdoe0001
5.4 yes, if you want the decimal value but I think you're expected to leave it as fraction
well i have to find the unit fraction... and sorry i took soo long! i had to clean my room
