A block is hanging vertically by a rope attached to the ceiling of an elevator. The tension in the rope is less than the weight of the block. The net external force vector on the block points: a. Upward b. Downward c. Nowhere as this vector is zero Question 4. In the previous question the acceleration vector of the block points: a. Upward b. Downward
Let the weight of the block is 10N and it is acting downward
Now let the tension on block by rope is 8N and it is acting upward
10-8=2N Right?
Can u tell me the direction of this 2N net force???
downwards?
Ya u r correct!!!!!
So net force on block is downward
Can u tell me the direction of acceleration of the block
Response plz!!!
Sorry! My computer froze! I am not sure about this one, because it is not accelerating
No it is accelerating
U know F=ma
F=force m=mass a=acceleration
U know both F and a are vectors
U know frm my equation If F=0 then a=0
If F is not zero then a can not b zero
Now net force F=2N then acceleration can not b zero
U know frm my equation Both F and a have same direction. Right?
Can u tell me the direction of a?????
ok so the same
if F is downwards then a must be too!
Glad to help u!!!!
thanks :)
