Many Americans were reluctant to get involved in World War I. They favored a policy of isolationism, meaning that they preferred that the U.S. government stay out of world affairs. The opposite view, internationalism, supported the U.S. taking an active role in world affairs. Even after American involvement in World War I, many Americans wanted to maintain a policy of isolationism. Do you think that a policy of isolationism is appropriate in our modern world?
