A ball is released from a hot air balloon moving downward with a velocity of -10.0 meters/second and a height of 1,000 meters. How long did it take the ball to reach the surface of Earth? Given: g = -9.8 meters/second2.

OpenStudy (ookawaiioo):

Use the distance formula: \[Distance(x) = -\frac{ 1 }{ 2 }*g*t^{2} + Vo(t)\] x= 1000 g= (-9.8) Vo= (-10) Solve for time(t)

OpenStudy (ookawaiioo):

Sorry.... g = 9.8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well in the equation ur wrote in ur first answer there is positive sign with half g t square .
