Why do scientists have to use tools other than microscopes to solve the structure of DNA?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Can you answer my question @ Pooja195?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

um................. Idk sorry

@Science_ALLY

pooja195 (pooja195):

Let me ask you this can DNA be seen with the naked eye?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Nope.

pooja195 (pooja195):

Think about that also a microscope can only see so far

pooja195 (pooja195):

Well i would put it as DNA has many parts that can not be seen with microscopes the helix? it cant be seen with the microscope therefore scientists will often use other equipment getting it?

pooja195 (pooja195):

And since its a 3D structure its not likely to show up well under a microscope

OpenStudy (somy):

DNA is a polynucleotide, in other words, nucleic acid = chemistry atoms and chemical structures/compounds cannot be seen using microscope

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks, Pooja195 and Somy.....:-)

OpenStudy (somy):

No problem :)
