The teacher of a seventh-grade class flipped a coin 100 times. The students recorded the results in the table shown below: Side of Coin Landed On Heads Tails Number of Flips 56 44 Which of the following best describes the experimental probability of getting heads? The experimental probability is same as the theoretical probability. The experimental probability is 6% lower than the theoretical probability. The experimental probability is 6% higher than the theoretical probability. The experimental probability cannot be concluded from the data in the table.

@bibby

OpenStudy (bibby):

what's the theoretical prob of getting heads

OpenStudy (anonymous):

56/56?

OpenStudy (bibby):

they flipped a coin 100 times

OpenStudy (anonymous):

tails: 44/44

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh

OpenStudy (anonymous):

56/100

OpenStudy (anonymous):

44/100

OpenStudy (anonymous):

right?

OpenStudy (bibby):

theoretical

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ugh wait a sec

OpenStudy (bibby):

in theory you will get heads 1/2 of the times you flip

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh 50/100?

OpenStudy (bibby):

yeah

OpenStudy (bibby):

relate the experimental and theoretical probabilities

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (bibby):

by that, I mean the experimental is either x amount bigger, x amount smaller, the same, or unknown

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh ok wait a sec plz

OpenStudy (anonymous):

heads is 12% more possible than tails??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is that right??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@bibby lol r u there or whatching the movie??

OpenStudy (bibby):

I was tabbed out trying to cancel plans help me decide whether or not I want to go out drinking tonight it's snowing :(

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh ok lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

umm i dont think u should drink. its bad 4 u

OpenStudy (anonymous):

remember that.....

OpenStudy (bibby):

anyhow to answer the question how much percent great than 50 is 56, we set up the equation 50x=56 x=56/50=1.12=12% more that's really weird. that isn't one of the choices

OpenStudy (bibby):

I'll keep that in mind :D1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wow

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so then which one do u suggest i should pick??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh wait a sec..... u said to figure out how much bigger is 56 than 50... so then its 6%

OpenStudy (anonymous):

right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so then which one is it??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@bibby

OpenStudy (bibby):

it's definitely not the same, I don't want to say the experimental is 6% more, that'd be wrong is there a way of contacting your teacher?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah but she wont help me with this question lol....... i just started a diff test.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

module test, so she wont:( which one do u think is the closest to the answer??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how about d??

OpenStudy (bibby):

the experimental probability can be computed. we have a table 56/100 or 56% of the time it was heads

OpenStudy (bibby):

oh I'm stupid

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what?

OpenStudy (bibby):

we're doing it out of 100 not 50. I did the thing you did last question

OpenStudy (bibby):

it's 6% more

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh ok lol thx:) got 2 more, can u help??

OpenStudy (bibby):

nope. B says 6% lower than theoretical what is the experimental and theoretical philosophy

OpenStudy (bibby):

err probability

OpenStudy (anonymous):

LOL

OpenStudy (anonymous):

C?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thats wat i put

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ugh nvrimd look out 4 d question :)

OpenStudy (bibby):

yeah it's C
