attachment?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
thats the image
Mehek (mehek14):
first you find the area of the whole triangle
Mehek (mehek14):
@minecraft1108 what do you get?

Yeah a few ways to do this, find area of triangle then subtract area of the box from from it. There are other methods to :)
Mehek (mehek14):
By the way, your answer is wrong
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Area of triangle: 1/2bh
Area of square: a^2
OpenStudy (anonymous):
thats base and height right?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Yes

yes
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Alright, I'll let Mehek take over :), she will help you! Good luck!
OpenStudy (anonymous):
so base times height? im new to this XD
Mehek (mehek14):
Thanks :) @iambatman
Mehek (mehek14):
base times height times 1/2

Mehek (mehek14):
what is the base?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
the bottom part of the triangle 24mm?
Mehek (mehek14):
yes now what is the height?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
24mm again
Mehek (mehek14):
so 24*24?

tthank u :D
Mehek (mehek14):
That's not the answer...
OpenStudy (anonymous):
so 24 times 24 divided by 2?
Mehek (mehek14):
yes and then you have to find the area of the square
OpenStudy (anonymous):
What is the area of the shaded part of the parallelogram?
A.
32 m²
B.
128 m²
C.
184 m²
D.
256 m²

OpenStudy (anonymous):
i got 288 and would it be the same for this one?
Mehek (mehek14):
it's not 288
OpenStudy (anonymous):
144?
Mehek (mehek14):
yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):
first tell me what the height is
OpenStudy (anonymous):
18mm
OpenStudy (anonymous):
yes what length now of triangle
OpenStudy (anonymous):
18mm
OpenStudy (anonymous):
yes now multiply those two and divide by two because it is a traingle

OpenStudy (anonymous):
wait that wasn't the answer
OpenStudy (anonymous):
you had to find the area of square and subtract that from you know
OpenStudy (anonymous):
you should have gotten 162 as triangle area and then should have subtracted that from 81 because that is the area of square
OpenStudy (anonymous):
so 18x18=324 divided by 2 is 1
62

yes subtract that by 81 that area of square it asking for shaded area
OpenStudy (anonymous):
that is answer
