Suppose 6 students are staying in a hall in a hostel and they are each allocated one of 6 beds lined up against a wall. Among them, Aaron does not want a bed next to Sarel, because Sarel snores. Taking this into account, in how many ways can the beds be allocated?

I would first calculate the total number of ways to arrange the beds then subtract the total number of ways to arrange the beds such that Aaron is next to Sarel.

Thanks, I'll try that
