hey so I'm writing a play about rape. If anyone has any stories, emotions and/or messages they think should be included it please let me know. I'm trying to make it as realistic as possible
Include the message that what you are wearing or who your are and how you act don't matter. You can be dressed any way and still be raped. People shouldn't believe that dressing in a certain way will cause it.
@horsegirl27 thank u and yes i already have that part in. Its interesting that u say that too because i did some research and rapist have actually come forward and said that they didnt care what she looked like. That when they saw the victim in court they didn't even recognize her. Thats the funny thing because even rapist agree with u
@ispike remember to include how it affected the person who gets raped what was the person's reaction to the rape clues about how and why the person got raped...
@heypips thats literally what the play is about or geared towards lol
Maybe on how this affects the self esteem issues of male and female victims of rape. Men feel ashamed to come forward when they are victims.
@InExileWeTrust yea ive been thinking about it because i know thats a problem but when i first thought of it i thought of three girls and the way i have it set up i can only have three because its on a stage. So i was thinking of trying to find some way to incorporate a male vicitm at the end like how thats the story u wont even hear whispers of. Idk im trying to figure out some way because i agree that it needs to be address
Wow you have some great ideas @ispike!
@horsegirl27 thank you and yea im really excited about writing it as morbid as that sounds lol ive actually been talking non stop to multiple different rape victims and ive been doing a lot of research as well
Wow that's so good! It will really draw attention to the problem
@horsegirl27 yea thanks i hope so
yw same
I think you could write that the rapist at some point as a child was molested or raped himself. Not only is it going to introduce internal conflict but it is a true fact that some rapists do it because they felt powerless and less of a man at some point in time. Think of it like bullies. Some feel angry with father issues or abused and neglected at home. They take out the anger on kids at school because they feel they have more power doing that as to being at home being called the exact names they call other kids. You could even not say anything about the rapist himself being a rape victim until court. Of course, it is YOUR play and YOUR message. I am not telling you what to write and what not to just so there is no misunderstanding here. I am merely suggesting any ideas that may offer some inspiration.
