Multiple choice question! Which values satisfy the inequality? |z| ≤ 5 Choose all answers that are correct. A. z = –6 B. z = –5 C. z = –1 D. z = 8

OpenStudy (thatgingeronfire):

z is an absolute value, so no matter what value you put in for z, it will be positive. So B & C would both work. Do you understand why?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you! I have no idea why though .-.

OpenStudy (thatgingeronfire):

okay so you understand that the lines that z is in is an absolute value. So no matter what number you put into those line, negative or positive, it will always come out positive. (unless you have a negative sign outside of the lines).

OpenStudy (thatgingeronfire):

put -6 in for z. it will come out as 6. Is 6 less than or equal to 5?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ohhhh! I understand >,< Thank you! <3

OpenStudy (thatgingeronfire):

no problem. Glad to help.
