OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

Smallest known organism!! Nanobes!! It is 0.009 cubic microns! 150 of these nanobes can fit in 1 E.coli.

OpenStudy (zale101):

Thanks for sharing @shrutipande9 ! :>

jagr2713 (jagr2713):

Nice :D

OpenStudy (greencat):

You should check out @iambatman 's post with the "game". We can probably find other small creatures.

OpenStudy (greencat):

0.009 microns = 9 nanometers Courtesy of Google

OpenStudy (greencat):

Using the "game", I know that Nanobes are 9 buckyballs large.

OpenStudy (greencat):

In captain America 3, Bucky should face an opponent 9 times the size of him.

oooooo thx for the info its interesting...:)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Cool. :-)

OpenStudy (greencat):

^lol it had to be a smiley

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@ashhhrodriguez

OpenStudy (thadyoung):

Still not smaller than a virus.

OpenStudy (greencat):

^uh it is

OpenStudy (nincompoop):

small viruses are around \(16 ~nm\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@nincompoop Most scientists do not consider viruses a life form because they have no metabolism, no method of reproducing on their own, and are therefore incapable of propagating without another life form. Another key to this is that even obligate parasites that are not viruses have a rudimentary metabolism and are thought to have evolved from ancestors that were not obligate parasites.

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

yeah thats true @mrdoldum

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so what if MOST do not consider it as being "alive"? I am a biologist and I can justify it well that it is alive even without interacting with a host.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@CelesteSelene13 My point is that because most biologist do no consider viruses life, you will rarely seem them included in discussion of the smallest life forms. I'm curious, what is your justification.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@mrdoldum . I do not think you meant to tag me, as the above person is named celestial dictator, and I'm Celeste Selene.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@celesteselene13 You right, sorry. That is what I get for only checking the first bit of the name before doing the auto-select.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Repost: My point is that because most biologist do no consider viruses life, you will rarely seem them included in discussion of the smallest life forms. I'm curious, what is your justification. I tagged the wrong person, hence the repost. @celestialdictator
