Here is the pic

OpenStudy (noelgreco):

Start by drawing a diagram.

Nnesha (nnesha):

hmm...................

OpenStudy (janu16):

@noelgreco I dont exactly know where to put those numbers do you know how to draw

OpenStudy (janu16):

@Nnesha do you know?

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

hmmm ok.. .so, what section is this meant to cover?

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

are you expected to use say.... Heron's formula? or just a plain special angles?

Nnesha (nnesha):

hmmmm offline

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

hmm so much for that

OpenStudy (academicgurusinc):

The general equation for the area of a triangle is A=1/2BH With the isosceles triangle, lets treat it as 2 right triangles. If that is the case then the area is exactly 1/2 what the intial area is. 110/2=55 We know that if the base is 14 feet, and we are trying to split it into two triangles, then the base =7ft So, using the formula A=.5BH 55=.5BH 55=(.5)(7)(H) H=110/7 ft Using Pythagorean Theorem to find the "legs" of the triangle, C^2=A^2+B^2 C^2=(7)^2+(110/7)^2 C=17.2 ft This is the length of the legs and our final answer.
