MEDAL AND FAN Alan estimated that he would score 140 points the next time he bowled. He actually scored 152 points. What was the percent error in Alan’s estimate? Round to the nearest tenth of a percent, if needed. A. 6% B. 7.9% C. 8.6% D. 12%

@horsegirl325 @campbell_st @Nnesha

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

difference in scores/actual score x 100 the interesting thing is that appears rounding has been ignored in the solution

OpenStudy (winsteria):

please help me? Is it B,C, or D? @campbell_st

OpenStudy (winsteria):

@GretaKnows

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay so @campbell_st was right. what you need to do is find the difference between the two scores

OpenStudy (anonymous):

which is 12 then divide 12 by 152

OpenStudy (winsteria):

0.07894736842

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes now you need to turn it into a percent. move the deciaml point twice to the right

OpenStudy (winsteria):

7.8?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well 7.89. since 9 is more than 5 you have to round up. so 7.9

OpenStudy (winsteria):

so it's 7.9? one person told me it's 12% and someone else told me it's 8.6 so are you sure?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im pretty sure you can check your answer by multiplying each percentage, be sure to make them into deciamls by moving the deciaml point, by 140 and seeing which one is closest to 12
