helloo :) I'm currently studying Niccolo Machiavelli's "The Prince" and Shakespeare's "Julius Caesar" and i was wandering if anybody could recommend or knew any texts that have similar themes (power, absolute monarchs etc)? Thanks for any recommendations in advance :D

OpenStudy (arabpride):

I'd look into history texts that explain about time periods with such ruling. Like with revolutions that took place in order to overthrow such government policies or rules. :3

awesome :P Thanks ^_^.

I recommend Simon Dixon's "Catherine the great.. it's a newer book (2009) but has a similar feel.. here's a small description "In 1745 a little-known German princess named Sophie of Anhalt-Zerbst married the nephew of Empress Elizabeth of Russia. Seventeen years later she overthrew her husband to become Catherine the Great, one of the most celebrated monarchs in history, turning eighteenth-century Russia into arguably the largest and most powerful state since the fall of the Roman Empire."
