So I did,

is it $$x\sqrt{8}-6=2x \sqrt{2}$$ ?

$$\sqrt{2} (x \sqrt{8}-6)=2x$$ which got me $$4x-6\sqrt{2} = 2x$$ then $$2x-6\sqrt{2}=0$$
then finally $$x=3\sqrt{2}$$

maths is not about "getting the answer in a flash" - that is wrong. you should keep persevering - I am sure you will be an ace student in no time at all and, hopefully, will start teaching me a thing or two about the subject matter. :)

The main thing you've taught me is trust my gut, so like with the curve questions earlier, I was planning to make the equations equal to each other but just kept thinking it was wrong. And you talking through it actually made me understand where everything was coming from rather than just being given the answer! :)
