Question 1.1. Which relation is a function? (Points : 4) {(1, 2); (2, 3); (3, 4); (1, 5)} {(1, 2); (1, 3); (1, 4); (1, 5)} {(1, 2); (2, 3); (3, 4); (2, 5)} {(1, 2); (2, 2); (3, 2); (4, 2)}

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A function is a relationship in which, for every x-value, there is a UNIQUE y-value, i.e. only one y-value for every x-value. Which one do you think satisfies this requirement?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The second one.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well, in the second one, the x-value of 1 has 4 y-values (2, 3, 4, 5). So it can't be that one.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok then it should be the last one then right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Exactly. Good job!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks.

You're welcome.
