(d^2y/dx^2) - 4y = 0 This is a separable equation. I do not understand what I am supposed to be doing with the "(d^2y/dx^2)" part. Any ideas?

OpenStudy (freckles):

So you have y''-4y=0 who told you it is separable?

OpenStudy (freckles):

\[r^2-4=0\] you solve this to get your solutions if you get r=a and r=b real a and b are real numbers then your solution is: \[y=c_1e^{at}+c_2e^{bt}\]

OpenStudy (freckles):

where a and b are real numbers*

OpenStudy (freckles):

any questions?

OpenStudy (freckles):

Just asking because I haven't heard anything from ya.
