John Brown, who bravely stormed a fort in order to steal weaponry so he could start a revolution to help end slavery was hanged for his act. A martyr of course is someone who dies for a cause. John Brown and his sons died for their act but yet his ideas still maintained, making him a martyr his idea was to end slavery
