What type of rock are fossils found in? @JackofallTradez

OpenStudy (jackofalltradez):

First, name the three types of rocks. Then I'll take you step by step through why some rocks have fossils, and other do not. Deal? :P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (jackofalltradez):

Do you know the three types of rocks?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

igneous, metamorphic, and sedimentary

OpenStudy (anonymous):

right?

OpenStudy (jackofalltradez):

Right! Now, you know how each one is formed, right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (jackofalltradez):

Ok, easiest way to do this: out of those three rock types, which one does not require heat to form?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sedimentary?

OpenStudy (jackofalltradez):

Yep! Since it is highly unlikely for fossils to form and stay intact heat and/or pressure, sedimentary is the most typical rock type fossils are found in :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yay!! can we answer the questions quicker next time please because i have to go somewhere in like 1 hour?

OpenStudy (jackofalltradez):

OK, no more beating around the bush, then :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok :)

OpenStudy (jackofalltradez):

You ready? I am :P

OpenStudy (anonymous):
