Boyd’s dartboard is octagonal. Each side measures 9 in. He drew a copy of the board that was smaller by a scale factor 0.25. What is the side length of the dartboard Boyd drew? ___ in.

OpenStudy (mathmate):

New length = old length \(\times\) scale factor. Since the copy (new) is geometrically similar to the original (old), the above formula/equation applies to any linear length.

@mathmate so what would the answer come out as?

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

The old length was 9 in. The scale factor is 0.25 Use this info plus what @mathmate gave you to figure it out.
