OpenStudy (anonymous):

i signed up with Facebook, so i normally login with Facebook too. Is it possible to login with email and a password instead?

pooja195 (pooja195):

On OS? Yes if you type the same login as your FB it will work

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@pooja195 are you sure about that? OS doesn't have access to your Facebook password

pooja195 (pooja195):

i login with the same thing all the time :P

pooja195 (pooja195):

it should work...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you login with Facebook, or email?

pooja195 (pooja195):

There are times where it has a problem logging me in with the FB button so i login with my FB stuff same pass same email

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but the question is how did OS get your facebook password?

pooja195 (pooja195):

If you signed up with FB its synchronized

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok, did you signed up with email, or facebook

pooja195 (pooja195):

facebook

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no third-party app has access to your facebook password

pooja195 (pooja195):

Thats if its set like that there are settings on FB for that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

this is extremely weird, because FB under no circumstances give any app an user's password, the FB login is based on a special authentication method that doesn't involve any password, let me create an account rn to check

pooja195 (pooja195):

Look it doesn't really matter noone will have your info -_- also have you never connected anything with fb? don't you see buttons that say "sign up with facebook" its the same thing for OS

OpenStudy (anonymous):

in no other websites, you are be able to login using email with your fb credentials

pooja195 (pooja195):

LOL that is everywhere xD for instance, YouTube,Instagram and Twitter

pooja195 (pooja195):

its pretty much the same it makes your life easier you dont have to fill out much inf after words :P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no, the point of "login with blabla" is an anthentication that avoids the need of entering a password

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it uses a secret key that Fb/Gmail/twitter will provide to ensure it's user identification

pooja195 (pooja195):

You can sign up with that too....and then use it to login just like OS

OpenStudy (ashleyisakitty):

We need to go deeper.

pooja195 (pooja195):

Your question:Is it possible to login with email and a password instead? Answer: YES

OpenStudy (anonymous):

YES

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok @pooja195 , so you are telling me once you signup using Facebook, OS has your Facebook password

OpenStudy (anonymous):

NO OKAY IM GONNA BREAK THIS DOWN

pooja195 (pooja195):

Technically yes but noone sees it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@pooja195 that is contradiction, facebook login *never* *ever* gives any other website your facebook password

pooja195 (pooja195):

your account is synchronized with OS so that its easier to login and so that you can share things on FB

pooja195 (pooja195):

OS does not have any record of your FB password

eclipsedstar (eclipsedstar):

Well facebook doesn't give your password \(without\) \(your\) \(permission\)....so if you grant that as ok, then it is given.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then tell me @pooja195 , how are you able to login on OS using your facebook email and password

eclipsedstar (eclipsedstar):

At least, I've heard that somewhere.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@EclipsedStar that's exactly my point, Facebook *under NO circumstance* give away password, there is NO option to allow permission for any third-party app to access your password

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You sign up with your facebook It uses that info to connect to a proxy This shadows registration process with your information that you have on your facebook You basically gave them permission to use it Then.....you can sign in with facebook while enjoying some of the benefits So technically you told OS to use your information which is all bundled up in their privacy policy. Facebook don't got nothing to do with this.It was all you baby gurl.

OpenStudy (ashleyisakitty):

eclipsedstar (eclipsedstar):

LOL XD

pooja195 (pooja195):

Does this really matter?(again) Like i said its sychrononized just like any other site u login with FB or any other social media site LOL ash

pooja195 (pooja195):

You GAVE permission so its not breaking any type of law if thats what your going for

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do the world a favour and don't marry. We don't need you to reproduce. JK

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@OrthodoxMan do me a favor and save your face. You clearly have never used a Fb API, let me break down for you when you signup with FB, it gives you a secret and unique key that is used to identify you, OS stores that in its database. everytime you login with facebook, facebook gives that unique key to you again, and OS checks if that key matches any user in its database, if it does, pull that user out and make him logged in

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it's a clear and simple process that involves no storage of password, there's no way for any third party to have access to your FB password

OpenStudy (anonymous):

unless you tell that third party app your facebook password

pooja195 (pooja195):

Let me make a conclusion for you.....YOU GAVE permission and your info out OS did not take it or force you to give it so end of story

pooja195 (pooja195):

This isn't even related to your question

eclipsedstar (eclipsedstar):

true story lol ^

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh c'mon. Did you actually believed what I said? But this is all pre-school stuff. You gave them permission to use your info for the purpose of registering on this site. This site does not take that password to access your facebook account.

OpenStudy (chosenmatt):

O,o im lost

OpenStudy (chosenmatt):

well im just gonna go....xD

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Wait....did you contradict you initial question?

eclipsedstar (eclipsedstar):

So...the original question was this. "i signed up with Facebook, so i normally login with Facebook too. Is it possible to login with email and a password instead?"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm gonna use a dummy facebook account as a trial..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

My name is Alice guys.

pooja195 (pooja195):

yes the answer is yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you guys clearly have no knowledge nor is willing to have a clear understanding of how signup with social network works

pooja195 (pooja195):

hun I have my fb signed up with OS I know and ive been here for two years nothing has happened

pooja195 (pooja195):

And like I said this has nothing to do with your question to answer it I said yes u can

OpenStudy (chosenmatt):

@Node.js im speechless all i can say is i dont even get what's your point but i hope u get it solved

OpenStudy (anonymous):

>Asks question >bashes answers >Is answer solved? >Find out next time on OS Drama

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

try doing forgot password..they will send u an email..and then change it..:)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i suspect that's what @pooja195 did to get his facebook password known to OS

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i just created fb signed up account on OS, email login does not work using fb credentials

eclipsedstar (eclipsedstar):

^ Just curious, why are you checking it out? OS isn't getting confidential information and I see no harm.

pooja195 (pooja195):

1) Think before you accuse thats a bit rude to say I have no intentions in having my password known to OS I done any emails 2) If you signed up with fb the password will be the same everytime u login unless you change it.in that case your normal fb login will be the same but if you manually login u will have to use your new password instead of the fb one 3)im a girl 4) I do this everyday I would know and i have 0 tolerance for arguments good night! :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@pooja195 you fail exactly as your point 2), if you signup with fb, you will NOT be able to login with your fb password

pooja195 (pooja195):

?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i just tested with a dummy user

pooja195 (pooja195):

ahahha thanks :) being dumb feels nice ^_^ i never said that read carefully

pooja195 (pooja195):

and yes you can :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

read carefully what i've just said

OpenStudy (anonymous):

learn to understand basic English

pooja195 (pooja195):

I know my english =P unlike others i have no intrest in creating fights for no valid reasons as far as i know you can so u think what u want :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you contradict yourself already with two statements: 1. OS doesn't store Facebook password 2. You can email login with facebook password I can't be more clear than this

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Since we all know statement 2 is true, statement 1 must be false

pooja195 (pooja195):

Like i said im done with this topic bye have a great night

OpenStudy (anonymous):

And statement 1 and 2 have to be simultaneously true for your statement to hold. Hence this proves you have no logic but plain emotion expulsion without understanding

pooja195 (pooja195):

cool story bro :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Read the fking manual on Facebook Login API before you make any further ignorant statement about any login & signup mechanism

OpenStudy (anonymous):

This is an insult to the entire tech industry and the engineering crew that spent years to build OAuth 2.0. Now go Google that since you don't have a single clue what i'm talking about

eclipsedstar (eclipsedstar):

^ No need to be harsh about it though.
