What did the Egyptians do because they believed in an afterlife? A. They worshiped many gods, including the sun god Re. B. They settled along the Nile River and built irrigation canals. C. They constantly waged war against their neighbors. D. They built pyramids and sphinxes and mummified their dead pharaohs.
What do you think?
idk :(
Alright. Well although B and C are relatively correct, they really have nothing to do with the fact of the Egyptian belief system. So that leaves us with A and D. Which one do you think it is?
A
No, I wouldn't say A. It's true that the Egyptians worshiped many gods (one of them being the Sun God, Ra) yet their concept of what to do for the afterlife didn't come from this. I would choose D. In order to prepare their kings and or queens for the afterlife, they would issue pyramids. The pyramids acted a temporary tombs for their mummified residence. They mummified the bodies so that when the god of the underworld came to guide the dead person to the afterlife, their body would still be ready for use. They would also fill the tombs with gold, spices, food, pets, boats, wine, and any other thing that the dead may need.
