Most of the Southwest Indians did not wear a lot of clothing. They did not need much because the weather was always so warm. Their long hair was enough cover for most of them. They wore Moccasins on their feet. The Navajo people lived in northwestern New Mexico. The weather was a bit colder there. They made clothing from deerskin. The men wore leggings. The women wore deerskin dresses. After the 1800s, the Navajo men started wearing blankets draped over one shoulder. They borrowed this style of clothing from the Mexicans. The women wore woolen dresses made with two blankets stitched together
