OpenStudy (academicgurusinc):

Here is a synopsis of each of the phases of mitosis: Mitosis Somatic cell division • Interphase o Long phase before mitotic phase o DNA replication and chromosome duplication (sister chromatids) • Prophase o Chromosome condensation o Nuclear membrane breaks apart o Mitotic spindle formation, microtubules o Cytoskeleton breaks down • Metaphase o Centromeres of chromosomes align at the metaphase plate o Centrosomes at opposite sides • Anaphase o Sister chromatids separate at the centromeres • Telophase o Cytokinesis o Nuclei formation o Splitting of cell into 2 daughter cells diploid (2n) Keep in mind that DNA replication occurs in interphase, not prophase as many believe it to be. (C) sounds like the cell is in anaphase. So I believe your answer if correct - in prophase the chromosomes are condensing.

Yep its D.
