which of the following pairs are false cognates? 1)Balcon-balcony 2)medicina- medicine 3)copa-cup 4)computadora-computer

OpenStudy (thatonegirl_):

copa isn't cup that I know of..

OpenStudy (alfonso-o):

Hello there! If I may join in, I'd say "balcony" doesn't correspond completely to Spanish *balcon* [accent on *o*] (though the two words do have some meaning in common). Hope this helps! Blessings

OpenStudy (alfonso-o):

Hi again! Then again, as I was thinking about it... It's also true you wouldn't say *copa* (Spanish) whenever you say "cup" in English... :) Best!

"Copa" refers to either a tournament or a wineglass. An ordinary cup is a "taza."
