How about it is based on your SS. Until you reach 50SS you will only be able to paste your OpenStudy link in the chat. Once you become 50SS you can talk in the chats. Like until you reach 50SS you can only write a few things in the chat like, "Can someone help me please" And let them enter that. And it shouldn't allow the same user to enter the same message more than 5 times...

Also emails won't let you make like 10 emails in a day. And they will stop you. So definitely cut down on the spamming in the chats.

I do not like this idea, that is unfair for all people with fair behavior. The chat feature is actually a feature that keeps bringing new users back to the site.

Hi,

The idea isn't to stop trolls and spammers outright. Not even IP Suspensions are a viable solution as Proxies and Businesses lines are accessible and not uncommon. The proper implication behind email verification implies an extra obstacle for violators to get around. In addition with SmartScore caps and other possible methods, if not email verification alone, trolls will burnout a lot quicker.

Many email services recognize an influx of newly generated emails from IPs, and will eventfully stop you from making further emails unless you:

a. Verify via phone
b. change your IP

There is an old story about a fox and an apple. Each morning, the fox woke up to eat his favorite, ripe red apple. Every time the sun came up, the apple would move further away. One other thing I think would be useful is a mandetory, short tutorial along with more check boxes for things like, "I will not use this site to cheat on tests, quizzes, assessments, etc. Instead, my goal is to get help on homework and to get tutoring." "I agree to be polite and not use abusive or foul language." and "I am 13 years old or older." each with their own check. Basically cover the big isues, force people to go through a coupla pages that show where and how to find a subject, ask a question, and answer people. Oh, and some captcha or other anti-bot system. Thus, make the signup process a little longer and more troublesome for trolls.
