OpenStudy (anonymous):

The equation of line XY is (y-3) = -2/3 (x - 4). What is the slope of a line perpendicular to XY

Nnesha (nnesha):

what is slope of xy line ??

Nnesha (nnesha):

\[\huge\rm y- y_1 = m (x-x_1)\] point slope form where m is slope so what is slope of xy line ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

this is geometry?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

omg this so easy... no offense

OpenStudy (anonymous):

m=slope

OpenStudy (anonymous):

u don't even need to calculate

Nnesha (nnesha):

what is slope of xy line ?? look at the point slope equation there is m which is slope so what is m in xy equation ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so if you match the number equation into the formula u can see what m is

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea what he/she said

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so is it 3/2?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

eggactly

Nnesha (nnesha):

YEP sope of xy is -2/3 but they are asking for perpendicular so you need to filp the fraction and change sign so yes its 3/2 :)
