Algebra Help Please? O-O Thank you!

OpenStudy (lilblister):

Graph the Function y=3x^2 . Draw a chart to show at least three ordered pairs that are on the graph.

OpenStudy (freckles):

have you found your 3 ordered pairs you want to use?

OpenStudy (lilblister):

Does it matter what they are or are they just any numbers?

OpenStudy (lilblister):

Thanks so much for helping me btw :D

OpenStudy (freckles):

To get a better idea of what your graph looks like I suggest using a negative, a neutral, and then a positive input.

OpenStudy (lilblister):

Ok so would (-2,-3) (0,-3) and (1,0) Work? o.o

OpenStudy (freckles):

I don't know how you got any of those points. :(

OpenStudy (freckles):

so if x=-2, then y=3(-2)^2

OpenStudy (freckles):

and if x=0 then y=3(0)^2 and if x=1 then y=3(1)^2

OpenStudy (lilblister):

Lol sorry im so bad at math xD

OpenStudy (lilblister):

So what points should i use then

OpenStudy (freckles):

you get to choose the inputs of the ordered pairs

OpenStudy (freckles):

I suggested some inputs above

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A true scale plot is attached.

OpenStudy (freckles):

if x=-3 then y=? if x=0 then y=? if x=3 then y=? and remember y=3x^2

OpenStudy (lilblister):

one second brb

OpenStudy (lilblister):

So i put in -3. So 3*-3^2=-27 ?

OpenStudy (lilblister):

@freckles

OpenStudy (freckles):

not exactly

OpenStudy (freckles):

3x^2 means the same thing as 3*x*x

OpenStudy (freckles):

so if you input -3 then y=3*x*x=3(-3)(-3)=positive 27 not negative

OpenStudy (lilblister):

Oh ok .
