Why did Jackson oppose a United States Bank? He thought only Maryland should have a bank because it had the first one. He wanted to borrow money from other countries to develop alliances. He could not select a city in which to build it, and wanted that authority. He saw Congress as too corrupt to run it, and believed it was unconstitutional.
