Write a short, fictional story about immigrants to the United States during the late-1800s and early-1900s. The story's plot and characters should accurately depict the experiences and challenges of immigrants at the turn of the twentieth century. Your story should be 600 words in length and include the following information: a description of each character, including his or her name, age, and homeland; a summary of the push-pull factors that influenced each character to come to the United States; a description of where each character settled in the United States; a description of the living conditions where each character settled; a description of a particular challenge faced by each character, such as finding a job, feeling cultural shock, assimilating into American culture, experiencing discrimination from native-born Americans, or dealing with political machines.
