How is homeostasis maintained in the body using the negative-feedback system?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

negative feedback is when something is lacking, the body receives a signal to replenish it. When something is in abundance, the body receives a signal to eliminate it. Positive feedback is when something is in abundance, the body receives a signal to create more of it. When something is depleted, the body receives a signal to continue depletion. Almost all of our actions are controlled by negative feedback because negative feedback maintains balance. Positive feedback encourages extremities, which is not good for survival. There are a few exceptions to this rule, but not many.
