Can somebody help me with the question posted in the comments?

I'm not sure what the answer is. :(

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

What are excluded values? Do you know what they refer to there?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

hint: think of 1/x and what value of x that isn't allowed

OpenStudy (anonymous):

In 1/x, 0 isn't allowed. So...the number of excluded values of a rational expression cannot exceed the degree of the denominator?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@jim_thompson5910

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

you are correct degree of denominator = max number of roots of the denominator = max number of excluded values
