Be sure to discuss the parents' and offsprings' genetic make-up.

OpenStudy (somy):

can you say at least sooooomething about it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Somy you can click the link to view the punnett square or|dw:1426272672196:dw| you can look @ my drawing

OpenStudy (somy):

yeah i saw it i just want you to tell me whatever info you get by looking at it what does it tell you? u are given that P - purple and p - white what would that mean?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

purple is dominant and wight is recessive.

OpenStudy (somy):

alright

OpenStudy (somy):

actually no its telling you that Purple color is dominant over white color and white color is recessive trait

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I know I just realized that

OpenStudy (somy):

it means when you have a genotype PP = purple and when you have pp = white now when you have Pp = purple, & the reason is that, purple color is dominant, thus, will be expressed over white color so P will not let p to be expressed, & will show its own expression = purple

OpenStudy (somy):

do i make sense?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so the ratio would be 4:1 for the wight and 4:3 for the purple

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so let me try and explain: since the purple is dominant and wight is recessive only 1 wight for every 4 and only 3 purple will show up for every 4. am I right?

OpenStudy (somy):

white*

OpenStudy (somy):

yes you are pretty much right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah woops google correct kept telling me to write it like that and I got confused.

OpenStudy (somy):

more like you gotta say because purple color is dominant, it is expressed over recessive color which is why the ratio is 3:1, 3 are purple, of which 1 is homozygous dominant and 2 are heterozygous, and 1 is homozygous recessive = this one is white

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay thx

OpenStudy (somy):

no problem :)
