Can anyone help me with mean, variance, and standard deviation?

OpenStudy (bloomlocke367):

@King.Void. @TheSmartOne @Compassionate can anyone help?

OpenStudy (king.void.):

I really suck at Math..If you cant a "F" then we will talk about this :'D

OpenStudy (bloomlocke367):

oh..... okay. do you know someone who can help @King.Void. ?

OpenStudy (bloomlocke367):

@satellite73

OpenStudy (bloomlocke367):

@iGreen

OpenStudy (bloomlocke367):

@phi

OpenStudy (bloomlocke367):

Can you help?

OpenStudy (phi):

what is the question?

OpenStudy (bloomlocke367):

to find the mean, variance and standard deviation and to round to the nearest tenth.

OpenStudy (phi):

Did you find the numbers in your "chart" or were they given ?

OpenStudy (bloomlocke367):

they were given.

OpenStudy (bloomlocke367):

and sorry it looks so bad xp

OpenStudy (phi):

do you know that the "mean" is another name for "average" can you find the average x value (the first column) ?

OpenStudy (bloomlocke367):

47.6 ... I didn't know which column to find the mean of, I know what it is.

OpenStudy (phi):

now the variance. we use the definition first find (x- mean) square each of these numbers find the average It looks like they did that work for you (though the numbers look like they have been rounded, and I would not have rounded) the only step left for finding the variance is finding the average of the (x- mean)^2 numbers

OpenStudy (bloomlocke367):

31.08?...

OpenStudy (phi):

yes, that is what I got. rounded to the nearest tenth, 31.1

OpenStudy (bloomlocke367):

yeah. now how do I find the standard deviation?

OpenStudy (phi):

square root of variance is std sqrt(31.08)

OpenStudy (bloomlocke367):

ohhhh okay 5.57 so 5.6

OpenStudy (bloomlocke367):

can you help me with another one?

OpenStudy (phi):

ok
