well if you re arrange the two equations into the form y=mx+c you can tell that the lines are not parallel as they have different gradients, therefore their must be atleast one solution also, if you rearrange into the form y=mx+c you can tell that the lines are not the same line, therefore it won't have infinite solutions now just solve the simultaneous equations
