What is the connection between the Endoplasmic Reticulum and the Golgi Apparatus
From what I can get, the endoplasmic reticulum transport and stores specific chemicals, either those synthesised in the E.R (Smooth Endoplasmic Reticulum, Lipids - Hormones-Steroids), or those synthesised outside (Rough, Proteins by the Ribosomes)
It can then package the chemicals in pocket-like structures, called vesicles, and sends them to the Golgi Apparatus
Then, the Golgi Apparatus goes through and process the generated proteins and lipids (not sure what processing means). Then, they can store it, or send it to other parts of the cells via secretory vesicles. Is this right?
those proteins which are to be transported out of the cell are translated on the roungh er..and then in the form of vesicles transported to golgi body. in this the proteins are folded correctly modified and then again in the form of vesicle transported out of the cell
perfect..:d
Can the Golgi Apparatus send it to other parts of the cells, or only to the cell membrane?
@shrutipande9?
umm...no i guess..the proteins that are required in the cell re trnslated in the cytoplasm...
SO the Golgi Apparatus doesn't send it to other parts of the cell?
nope...but let me check
Thanks :)
ur welcome..:D
Chechking...
Does the Smooth Endoplasmic Reticulum send anything to the Golgi Apparatus?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Endoplasmic_reticulum#Smooth_endoplasmic_reticulum
Is that a no, @shrutipande9?
er synthesizes proteins required in the lysosomes
the smooth and rough endoplasmin reticulum processes, synthesis the lipids and proteins formed....the proteins are also folded by rough endoplasmic reticulum. Golgi apparatus is a system of fluid filled flattened sac which further processes (also involves packaging) the proteins made......btw these proteins are transported from rough and smooth ER to golgi apparatus through vesicles Golgi apparatus also makes Lysosomes. :)
Thanks so much @SyedMohammed98 :D
