OpenStudy (javk):

hey, can somebody help me with TCP/IP?

OpenStudy (javk):

There needs a need for 50 hosts. What subnet mask should be use in order to have the most possible subnets.?

OpenStudy (javk):

class C subnet mask, right?

OpenStudy (mathmate):

255.255.255.192 should allow you to go up to 62 hosts (64 less all zeroes and all in the last 6 bits). "most possible subnets" means least excess host in each subnet. For more explanations, see: http://www.planix.com/~woods/classc.html

OpenStudy (javk):

since the IP address is 201.168.67.0 and the subnet mask is 255.255.255.192 does that mean I can only have four subnets?

OpenStudy (mathmate):

Yep, if they are all 62 or less hosts. The mask looks like this: 11111111.11111111.11111111.11000000 giving the last byte for the four subnet addresses as: .00000000 .01000000 .10000000 .11000000

OpenStudy (javk):

thankyou, got it :)

OpenStudy (mathmate):

You're welcome! :)
