How would you know if a vector equation is a plane?

OpenStudy (irishboy123):

a plane is a surface, not a vector. the vector most powerfully associated with a plane is its normal vector. if the plane is ax + by + cz = d, the normal vector is <a,b,c>. you can find the normal by taking the CROSS product of any 2 vectors lying in the plane. if a vector lies in a plane (ie is parallel to it) , then the DOT product of that vector and the normal should be zero.
