Medal Write the number in standard form. two and three hundred fifty-eight ten-thousandths

OpenStudy (amorfide):

what

OpenStudy (anonymous):

write the number in standard form

OpenStudy (amorfide):

2358.01 this number?

OpenStudy (acxbox22):

i guess thats the answer too lol

OpenStudy (amorfide):

nah not the answer if that is the number I can explain it I jsut don;t understand the number she is talkign about lol

OpenStudy (amorfide):

if the number is 2358.01 to get it into standard form, you want the number to be between 1 and 10, then the number will be multiplied by 10 or \[10^{n}\]

OpenStudy (amorfide):

so to get from 2358.01 you must divide the number by 1000 1000 is \[1000=10^{3}\] therefore you get \[2.358.01 \times 10^{3}\]

OpenStudy (acxbox22):

that is scientific form @amorfide

OpenStudy (amorfide):

isn't that also standard form?

OpenStudy (amorfide):

scientific form and standard form are the same or atleast that is what I was taught as a kid

OpenStudy (acxbox22):

standard form is just 1234 scientific form is 1.234 x 10^3

OpenStudy (amorfide):

in uk education scientific form = standard form lol my bad

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i dont know much about that

OpenStudy (acxbox22):

u will probably learn scientific form later but for now just remember that standard form is just the number written in numbers itself

OpenStudy (anonymous):

like three and five hundred seventy-four ten thousandths is 3.0574

OpenStudy (acxbox22):

so just translate the words into numbers

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2.358.01 is the answer?

OpenStudy (acxbox22):

from wolfram alpha your original post http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=two+and+three+hundred+fifty-eight+ten-thousandths

OpenStudy (acxbox22):

it doesnt quite make sense @CGGURUMANJUNATH can u help?

OpenStudy (amorfide):

ohhhhhhhh

OpenStudy (amorfide):

so your number is 2.0358

OpenStudy (amorfide):

now I have no idea what the question is asking for us to do

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its asking for us to put those words into numbers

OpenStudy (amorfide):

well if you knew that three and five hundred seventy-four ten thousandths is 3.0574 then just replcae 3 with 2 and .0574 with .0358 to get 2.0358

OpenStudy (acxbox22):

well then @amorfide is correct 2.0358 is your asnwer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thank you

OpenStudy (acxbox22):

np ;)

OpenStudy (amorfide):

to explain better you know that a ten thousandth is 0.0001 so if you have 358 of them, then 358x0.0001=0.0358 you have 2 already so you get 2.0358
