A square picture frame occupies an area of 112 ft2. What is the length of each side of the picture in simplified radical form? Show your work.

OpenStudy (amorfide):

a square has equal lengths on all sides to get the area of a square you multiply the length and width A=LW A=area L=length W=width therefore since L and W are the same value, you have the same value multiplied by itself L=W A=LL=L^2 or A=WW=W^2 so since \[A=L^{2}\] or \[A=W^{2}\] you know the area to be 112 so \[112=L^{2}\] or \[112=W^{2}\] square root 112 to get your answer
