how many significant digits does 7.5 x 10^4 have?

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

notice the "4" exponential, meaning, move the decimal dot 4 slots to the right or \(\bf 7.5 x 10^{\underline{4}} \implies 7\underline{5000}.\) significan digits, are "interesting digits" usually in short means, a string of zeros, on either the left side or the right side, by themselves, are not significant so in say 000003000 has 9 numbers but not counting the zeros on the left and right the only significant number is really "3"

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

so in the case of 75000 it has 5 digits but notice, the right-side has a bunch of zeros by themselves and those are not "significant"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so there are 2 significant digits? @jdoe0001

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

yeap 75

thanks... please help with this one if you can..
