Essentially there were 2 components to the civil disobedience strategy. 1) Breaking an unjust law brought attention to the law. Namely segregation. 2) Peaceful demonstrators were met with brutal force during several demonstrations and this was shown on television all around the country. This turned public opinion very quickly.
