Can anyone help? Suppose you are tossing an apple up to a friend and your friend does not catch the apple. How long did it take the apple to hit the ground? Here is the function H(t)=-16^2+38.4t+0.96.

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

H(t)=-16t^2+38.4t+0.96 0=-16t^2+38.4t+0.96 ... height is 0 when the apple hits the ground -16t^2+38.4t+0.96 = 0 plug a = -16, b = 38.4 and c = 0.96 into the quadratic formula and evaluate to find the two values of t

What would my problem look like?

I don't understand how I would write it out?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

do you know the quadratic formula?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Never mind I got it! Thank you for the help.

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

glad you got it figured out
