What are the dimensions of the following rectangle?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A. -6 2/3, -18 B. -6 2/3, 6 C. 6 D. 6, 20

OpenStudy (aaronandyson):

A= L times B Where 'A' is area 'L' is length 'B; is breath or width/(w)

OpenStudy (aaronandyson):

So now We get 120 = (3x + 2)(x) Solve for 'x' First.

OpenStudy (aaronandyson):

120 = 3x^2 + 2x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i dont understand how to get the answer?

OpenStudy (aaronandyson):

OKAY! We will use the first method then. SO the eqn we had obtained was 120 = x^2 + 2x right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea

OpenStudy (aaronandyson):

so now 120 = 3x^2 + 2x equate the eqn to 0

OpenStudy (aaronandyson):

i.e 3x^2 + 2x -120 = 0

OpenStudy (aaronandyson):

On solving we get x = -20/3 = 6 2/3 and x = 6

OpenStudy (aaronandyson):

So the correct ans is B
