Why was the state of Israel created in 1948? Provide at least two reasons. Your answer must be in complete sentences.

1) It was created to house all the Jews who were freed after the Holocaust. Thousands of Jews from all over the world fled back to their homeland.
2) It was created to re-establish the land of Israel. Israel is very important to the Jews, for holding much of their history. So when the state of Israel was created in 1948, the Jewish people were overwhelmed with a sense of having their nation re-established as well as the ability to restore the holy city of Jerusalem.
