do you know how to write polynomials in standard form?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
no
OpenStudy (ashes.boom):
Okay so when you're writing them in standard form you need the highest exponential value first and then in descending order from there
OpenStudy (anonymous):
11x
OpenStudy (anonymous):
oh ok i get it

is it -6x^2-8x-2 cubic polynomial
OpenStudy (ashes.boom):
Yep you also need to combine like terms so both of the x^2 need to be put together
OpenStudy (anonymous):
oh ok
OpenStudy (ashes.boom):
and its 4 terms so it is a polynomial
OpenStudy (anonymous):
so let me think

my first answer was wrong?
OpenStudy (ashes.boom):
um i think so you need to combine -11 and + 6
OpenStudy (anonymous):
-5x^2-8x+6x^2
OpenStudy (ashes.boom):
so you have (-11+ 6)x^2 - 8x + 2
OpenStudy (anonymous):
so thats wrong to

i did that its -5x^2
OpenStudy (anonymous):
-8x+2
OpenStudy (anonymous):
is that right

do you know how to find degree of a polynomial?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
oh its ok
OpenStudy (anonymous):
no
OpenStudy (ashes.boom):
okay for a monomial (one term) you just add all the exponents but this is a polynomial (multiple terms) so you find the highest exponential value and that is your degree
OpenStudy (ashes.boom):
this one looks like it is x^2 so its a second degree polynomial :)
