The Hair Care Salon charges a stylist $30 per day to rent a station at the salon. Rhonda, a stylist, makes $10.50 on each haircut. Write an equation to help her decide how many haircuts she must give in one day to make $138 after paying rent for her station? Then solve the equation.

Well, what do you think? Obviusly they gave you the numbers, the issue is putting them in the right order and finding the right variable.

OpenStudy (calculusxy):

I got: \[10.50h - 30 = $138\]

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Yep.

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

So solve it.

OpenStudy (calculusxy):

And if I solve for h I get 16 haircuts.

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Yep. And a note on this type of question: Now, sometimes they make these tricky with a decimal. When it is something per each and a minimum, you always round up. Sp, if it had been say "Make at least $140" then it would have been 16.19 so 17 haircuts.
